Is there such a thing as card verification for computer security?
We all know passwords to exist to secure computers so only one person can use them (or anyone who knows the password). Most of us know that you can buy USB finger print identification to secure a computer so that you – and only you – can access. However, while watching Mythbusters of all things, I learned that it is possible to make your own custom ‘credit card’ – I use that term loosely, basically I mean that you can make your own stiff card with the magnetic strip at the bottom. What I was wondering is, is it possible to find or buy a security measure for a home computer that uses cards (and readers) such as this? So that, for example, I could print up 3 card, give them to 3 people, and they could use them to access my computer?
Sounds like a good idea, but a heluva lot of work…
